I guess we live a very dull existence here in Hillbilly land. At least in the Summer (No one wants to go outside).
It seems my posts are few, and far between. It's difficult to try to make interesting commentary when nothings is happening.
I guess our big news for this week (actually 3 weeks ago) is our new puppy. We go to the Humane Society frequently to see the smaller animals, take large bags of pet food, towels, bleach, throws, cat litter etc. If we don't take items of use we drop some cash in the donation box. Occasionally they'll have a special needs animal that needs a good, caring, home, .... and we will pay a portion of it's adoption fee, thereby making it easier for someone else to adopt.
Three weeks ago we happened in on this little male Chihuahua that had been brought in by a lady who found him on the side of the road, near death, .... most of his hair gone, flea infested and dehydrated. She didn't know if he was going to make it, .... but she took him home a nursed him back onto his feet, bathed him and gave him food 'til he got his strength back.
She already had other dogs and decided she could not keep him long-term. So, ..... of to the Humane Society he went.
When we saw Joey he was about to be put on a truck going to an animal shelter in PA.
I told Lorri, the manager, that I didn't care where he was headed, .... he was going home with us.
She gladly changed his paperwork and away we went, .... Home, .... to introduce Joey to our other two Chihuahuas, .... Bitzi and Beau.
Joey's growing more hair, almost a full coat by now, and his skin is looking much better. All of the crusty infection is gone, thanks to a round of antibiotics and some medicated shampoo. He's put on weight (about all he needs) and has become best friends with our other boy, Beau. Bitzi hasn't completely come around yet, but you don't want to hurt Joey, because if he acts like his being infringed upon, .... Bitzi comes running and has to inspect him to be certain he's OK. She'll make friends soon.
So, .. there, .... we have a house full of small people, each with their own personality and peculiarities.
We love 'em all.

Ouch!

It's miserable outside! The temp. has been pushing 100* the last few days, .... but that's not the bad part. The bad part is this darned Kentucky humidity. It's so high that I have trouble breathing outside.
You know it's bad when you stand in the shade and perspire enough to wet your cloths, .... like you've been standing in the rain, .... or sitting in a sauna.
The air conditioner can't keep up with the heat and humidity. The house gets uncomfortable about mid afternoon, and doesn't really cool out 'til after midnight.
This time of year I find it expedient to stay in the house and do very little. (being retired sure is nice). The cost of gas is too high to go anyplace anyway.
Kinda be glad when Summer is over and cooler weather takes over.
Well, there you have it, ... my complaining for today (wish I was in Flagstaff, in the 'Woody Mtn. Campground').
I could grill some hamburgers and smoked sausages, take a nap, read a book, watch the squirels, .... take a nap.
Did I mention I could take a nap?
Then, after sundown, I could go to Swendsen's for an ice cream cone.
Hey!, .... A guy can dream, ...can't he?

Remember this picture on election day!
Let's all remember this on election day...if you have family serving in the military, make sure you send it along. Hillary, at least, shows respect for the country she lives in!
I had heard about this but a picture is definitely worth 1000 words! God save us!!!

Senator Barack Obama, Governor Bill Richardson, Senator Hillary Clinton and Ruth Harkin stand during the national anthem.
Barack Hussein Obama's photo (that's his real name).....the article said he REFUSED TO NOT ONLY PUT HIS HAND ON HIS HEART DURING THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE, BUT REFUSED TO SAY THE PLEDGE.....how can a man like this expect to be our next Commander-in-Chief
