Passing time.

I will be glad when warmer weather arrives. I've been ill with one thing or another since before Christmas, and it doesn't look like I'm going to finally be well until I can find some warm weather in which to bask in the sun, and maybe breath some fresh salt air.

Anyway, while looking for something to do today, I decided to bake an Apple Pie,...... and I did.

I peeled some nice ripe Red apples and put them in a sauce pan with butter, sugar and a mix of my favorite pie spices. While the apples were cooking and absorbing the good flavors, I mixed a crust. Put the crust in the pan and into the oven for few minutes to solidify it a bit.

When the apples had cooked to 'almost done' I ladled them into the waiting crust.
Once the apples were all leveled, I poured in a goodly amount of the fine apple spice syrup that the apples had cooked in. (right up to the top of the apples).

Then I put an old time 'criss crossed' crust over the top of it all and sprinkled that with sugar and spices.

Thirty minutes in a 350* oven, and all is well.

After supper we splurged with Homemade Apple Pie and a large scoop of Vanilla Ice cream.

Hmmm, ..... may not be the best of weather, ...... but we still had a 'Down Home' kind of day.

Test - Mobile Blog Entry

This a test,...... If it had been an actual emergency, you would have been instructed to tune to an emergency station in your area.

Actually, this is a test of my ability post to my blog using my iPod Touch, ..... which I use as an Internet tablet.

It seems to work pretty well, .. so I can publish any notes of interest while on the go.

If you should check this blog and find a rough post, .... I will visit later with the computer and clean things up, and post any appropriate pictures that may have been referenced.

It's cold outside

It seems that Kentucky is always too hot, or too cold. The only two decent months here are May and October. In my humble opinion, ... the rest of the year 'sucks'.

The summer months are hot and humid, ... terribly humid. The winter months are cold and damp.
The damp cold penetrates to the bone and there seems to no escaping it.

Unlike the less humid southwest, where humidity is not a problem. Unfortunately, I live in Kentucky, and it appears the probabilty of me living anywhere else is somewhere between 'slim' and 'none'.

I have been sitting here looking at temps in other parts of the country, and have concluded that I would like to spend the remainder of this winter in Ft, Myers, Fl. Of course one would need to leave that local prior to summer weather, ..... humidity again.

Oh well, ... I guess I'll take another aspirin and wrap up on the couch to watch some TV.
