Update on Nokia N810 Internet Tablet.

Well, …. I returned it. Yes it has many good features and capabilities, but I found it to be too heavy to carry around in my pocket, and I wasn’t overly impressed with the slide-out keyboard. Add to that the fact that some things were unreadable on the screen, and the zoom feature was slow and didn’t scale the screen properly, …. I started looking for something else to use as a WiFi Internet tablet.

You’ll never guess what I chose. The Apple iPod Touch.
It’s smaller, lighter, and more pocketable than the N810. The battery lasts twice as long, the screen scales in an instant and keeps the image and text in the same physical format. The Touch’s on-screen keyboard is quicker and easier to use that the slide-out mechanical keyboard on the N810.

Of course it doesn’t hurt that the thing hooks to a TV like a DVR and plays movies on the TV (I currently have about 12 full length movies in my unit, and room for more), or you can watch them on the Touch's screen.

I have my complete MS Outlook Contacts list in it, and can update or add new on the fly. I can also take notes. The Touch has a calendar function, complete with alarms, as well as a World Clock with alarms. If you need of a calculator from time to time, there is a very good one available at the press of a touch screen button.

So the ‘must have’ gadget that the kids are buying for their music on the go has real word uses for the computer geeks, or anyone who just wishes to have their email in their shirt pocket.

Ukulele weeps by Jake Shimabukuro

I've long been intrigued by the Ukelele, although it's not widely thought of as a serious musical instrument. Many harbor thoughts of children at play with their "Cute little ukelele".

These YouTube videos should dispel any lingering doubt as to the instrument's validity in the music world.

If you care to hear more, ..... just do a search on YouTube using "Ukelele" as your search key. You are in store for some good music from these diminutive cousins of a guitar.

Nokia N810

Well, it's out, .... the Nokia N810 Internet Tablet.

And, .... you guessed it, .... I just had to get one. This little GEM is a slick tool for Internet access, Email, You Tube, Blogger even a Skype WiFi telephone.

It fits in your pocket nicley since it's just a few millimeters larger that the Apple iPhone. Yes, .... it plays MP3s and video (in multiple formats), with built-in stereo speakers as well as a 3.5MM stereo headphone jack, And if that's not enough, it supports bluetooth headphones as well. Plus, let's not forget Internet Radio, FM radio and a good group of other features and functions.

It doesn't contain a cell phone, and can only access the net via WiFi but as common as WiFi is getting now, that's not much of a problem.

Oh, .... and did I mention that it contains it's very own GPS, and the maps that go with it?

This is one pocketful of dynamite! Especially if you're an electronics freak like me.
